I Don’t Really Get What You Do??

Your 45 Second Elevator Pitch!

Interesting night, last night!   As part of the steering committee for LEG UP!, January  is my month for setting up the program.   I decided to create an evening for attendees to introduce themselves and their businesses to a panel.    I have been involved in several programs focused on effective elevator pitches, worked with many, watched many struggle, but knew speaking about your business is important.    After helping prepare some of our volunteers for the initial agenda based on my past experiences, decided to scrub my plans at the last-minute based on some wise feedback.     The structure of the evening went from me introducing participants, giving them 2 minutes to address the panel with notes, and creating as comforting atmosphere as possible to  45 seconds, no notes, and let them feel pressure.    I have this part of my personality that wants people to be  “comfortable”.    Joe said no.   In business, you are going to feel uncomfortable.   They need to practice under pressure.   And because we changed the rules at the last minute, know the pressure increased!
